The Hyde, as its nicknamed is family countryside retreat where the family will host their friends and family. Located in the Akwapim mountain range, this serine ecosystem pond overlooks the mountains. It is also be a place where the owner who is an art enthusiast will exhibit his various art pieces. The space seeks to rejuvenate any visitor through its lush garden, ecosystem pond, pool and spa whilst allowing one to appreciate the hills of Aburi through large picturesque windows.
Located at the restaurant in the Safari Valley Resort in the Eastern Region of Ghana is our very first Aquascape water feature which is an ecosystem pond build with an intake bay and wetland filter. We call it “SVR Restaurant Pond”.
Nobody starts ‘life’ from high school but FFL Water Features did. We will certainly NEVER advise that even though we didn’t fail at it.
‘The Restaurant Pond’ was one of the many features we proposed for the ecotourists Resort prior to finding Aquascape. After my first visit to Aqualand I altered all designs previously submitted as concrete ponds to ecosystem ponds. Since it was an ongoing project, we didn’t have the luxury of practice but just had to proceed to install.
We were to build a 30 metre stream along the side of the restaurant with a bridge just after the wetland that will end in a pond next to the outdoor sitting area. As we constructed, the client requested the stream to go further up but the pond size couldn’t support the water in motion. We decided to build a pondless that started right next to the wetland and went up 15 metres to a spillway to start the pondless stream. We therefore have a visual length of over 50 metres stream but in effect it’s a pond with a 30 metre stream, the wetland and pondless reservoir of 7 metres and a pondless stream of a 15 metres.
The client provided equipment for harvesting rocks off their property and for the project. It was a challenging build but with assistance via video and voice calls to The Pond Professor, we scaled through creating this work of art with an intake bay and wetland.
We have nicknamed this ‘The Akyemfo Pond’ because it’s in the town Akyemfo (Saltpond) which is in the Central Region of Ghana.
We were called in to build a large aquarium for his catfish at the end of his drive way. As I drove into the 4-acre property with this majestic colonial building sitting in this magnificent landscaped area, I realized the property needed an ecosystem pond to compliment this spectacular scenery that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The client gave me a tour and we discussed why I was there. Right after that I showed him a space which seemed perfect for a pond and showed him some pictures of our works. It did not take long to convince and sell him the pond idea and I left to go sort out the paper work on condition we can work without disturbing his plants.
The primary and secondary outdoor sitting areas that overlooked the pond space at the end of the driveway was still a good 20-30 metres away. I explained the dynamics of how ponds draw people closer and the need to build a pergola near it. The client initially did not agree to exchanging his plants for a sitting area. The pictures however tell a different story as a lot more space on the side ended up being converted to sitting areas.
Our client sent us this message a couple of months after this build. “I did enjoy seeing you and your guys operate so efficiently, which sadly is so different from what one is used to seeing generally in our country.”
This is a multiple pond rebuild project in a resort we have been working for. We started knocking off the old not very good ponds and installing ecosystem ponds. It is by far the most challenging build we have done with massive demolitions, client insisting we stay with their working bead filters, long pipe runs and a high water table. We created an ‘elaborate network of water’ as someone described it. 2 ponds looking like 1 with a 85ft stream, a 20ft stream to a pondless with some of the resort room balconies overlooking the ponds. We had mini wetlands, stone fountains, earther pots displays with mist makers toping it up. Client supplied all the boulders used.
Always a joy building a water feature for a brother who has followed my works forever. This pond was one of our early works. An ecosystem pond with a waterfall, gentle water sounds, LED lights, and natural elements and plants sounds like a beautiful and relaxing addition to your outdoor space. That’s just what we created in his backyard space making it the family’s new favorite spot.
In the Akwapim mountain range, this pondless feature, located in Mampong in the Eastern Region of Ghana overlooks the mountains.
Our client Dr. A wanted to sleep and wake to the sound of water everyday. A wide deck attached to a 40 ft container home allowed us to design the feature right underneath the bedroom window to emerge directly from the deck and in winding, provide a seamless flow of serenity in the hills of Mampong.
A large earthenware pot, placed strategically in the hollow of a since-decayed tree turned upside down, pours water into a reservoir spread beautifully with local rocks. Another smaller pot bubbles like a cauldron, adding its voice to the gently moving water that emerges seemingly suddenly from an overturned pot on its side. The water negotiates its way through subtle florals, disappearing underground to begin its beautiful journey again.
Sweet dreams are made of these…
